Survivair^® Smoke Eater^™

The Smoke Eater™ is an air purifying escape respirator designed to attach to a Survivair SCBA facepiece. Once attached, it will provide users with approximately 15 minutes of protection from contaminated air, allowing them to escape from a situation should their SCBA run out of air. It employs a three-stage purifying system to remove harmful substances from the outside air. The first stage filter traps smoke particles, while the second stage uses a carbon bed to capture hazardous gases. The heart of the Smoke Eater, however, is the third stage Monolith™. This revolutionary new catalytic converter not only converts carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide more efficiently than existing designs, it offers extremely low breathing resistance and will continue to be effective even after repeated exposure to water. No other converter can match its performance. To use the Smoke Eater, just twist off its cap, remove your mask-mounted regulator, then snap the Smoke Eater into your mask. When you reach safety, remove the unit and dispose of it. There is also a training canister version to train firefighters in proper use without expending a working unit. The Smoke Eater is a must for every firefighter.
